Flat out

I spent the best part of the gloriously sunny weekend lying flat on my back in bed, sick. Yuck. I have no idea what it was (such deep exhaustion!), but I seem to have skimmed over the top of something nasty. Now the rain and clouds are back, but I'm thankful at least that if I had to miss the sun, it happened over the weekend when Markus could play with the girls. Ellie is out of school for two and a half weeks for winter holidays, so being sick before instead of during that time was helpful too. Not that it's ever fun to be sick. These are the times when you can't help but fervently wish you lived within 20 minutes of family. Having some extra help on hand would be fantabulous, but the lack of it is part and parcel of this wild expat lifestyle. Hope whatever it was/is will clear my system soon!

Sorry to hear you were under the weather! Sometimes we don't get a chance to take a break until our body makes us so it was probably a blessing disguised by coughing and boogers. I don't know what your remedies are but Zicam zinc tabs (not gross tasting like cold-eez is) have made an amazing difference in my body's ability to recoup from colds. Once side is zinc and one side is vitamin c and it just melts in your mouth. Pretty soon I'll be staring in their commercials because I've become a walking advertisement. I'm happy to hear Markus was able to lend a hand to give you the break you need :-)

I just looked at my note - I'm tired too but my body isn't making me sick it's making me spell poorly!

Your family wishes you were close by too! I would put you to bed and stuff you with chicken noodle soup and have you rub Vicks on your chest (it works!) and sleep 14 hours a day. A hot toddy at bedtime wouldn't hurt either!

Come home tomorrow!

So sorry to hear that you were sick, especially on a nice weekend. At least you seem to have skimmed over it and didn't get it full force, whatever it was...hope you are feeling 100% again soon! :)

Thanks, ladies! Today's useless $65 trip to the doctor had her concur with the assessment that I've just skimmed over something, whatever it is/was. Could have accepted that based on my own judgement and kept my $65, thank you, but oh well. Better to check, I guess.
