Sew, Mama, Sew!

Last Friday, I bought my first sewing machine! Of course, the excitement of that was quickly buried under news of fungus, so I only just opened the box this morning. It's ridiculous how thrilled, crafty and capable I feel just trimming fabric for my first projects (on the other hand, it'd be a shame if new things didn't feel thrilling, right?).

Any projects planned yet??

I was recently complaining to Eric after an unsuccessful shopping venture that I wish I could sew in order to tweak everything I find at the mall. I find lots of lovely clothes if only I could change just this or that part of what I find. Eric told me not to worry, we'd get a sewing machine and a small hot room for me to work in soon enough!

Yay!!! Can't wait to hear about (and hopefully see because you post pics) the stuff you create!

Am I the only one who thought you already had a sewing machine?

schlelly love, I am completely with Eric on setting you up a little sweat shop! I loved how competent I felt just making those library bags. It was so fun, and it was great to know I could make pretty, simple things on my own. I have no ability to keep little accomplishments to myself, so I was yammering on about making the library bags when another mom announced she is a "fantastic sewer". I volunteered her to teach me how to sew clothes, and she agreed. There's no stopping me now!

Karly, you know there will be pictures!

Azure, maybe you thought I had one since I've been wanting one for about five years. I just never sucked up the pricetag until now.
